SDFC was the worst experience and would never recommend this clinic to anyone. One star is more than I would give. I normally don’t write reviews but in this case I feel morally obligated to. Understanding this is a business to make money that is how you are treated. You’re only a number with dollar signs attached. The clinic is extremely disorganized and not supportive. This is a journey and I was not guided or supported. If I didn’t advocate for myself nothing would have been done. I miscarried which is a true outcome and I fully understand that. I never received a call from the nurse and had to beg to get an appointment with the Dr to help me better understand what happened. We fell into the 1% of people having this specific embryo split resulting in a miscarriage. There are no words to explain how terrible this process was. I am one to easily separate the emotion from business and as a business owner myself I’m surprised based off my experience this clinic is still in business. When you think of the word clinic, it is getting as many people in and out getting in as you possibly can. Cattle Call. That is SDFC. The day of our transfer my husband and I asked when we should leave and the response was ,” When Alexa tells you to leave.” In speaking with the office manager regarding my concerns her response was , “ sorry you feel that way.” I think that is a great way to sum up this disastrous experience. They just don’t care period.

Overall, I had a terrific experience with San Diego Fertility. I am a gay single man who was creating embryos with an egg donor to use with a surrogate. Dr. Park was fantastic - one of the warmest and sensible doctors I've ever talked to. The only issue I would say was challenging at times was that Dr. Park did not give out a phone number to reach her. I understand the privacy issue involved, but it was challenging to reach her when I had a question or two. There were also a few times where the assistant(s) were not clued in on decisions made and sent out emails that did not represent the current situation. My experience of being at SDFC for the first embryo transfer was great! They gave me a tour of the place, and everyone was extremely warm, professional and friendly. My surrogate also said she was treated well there when I wasn't present.

've had a mixed experience with San Diego Fertility Clinic (SDFC), and there are a few things I wish I had known before starting treatment here. Financial Department: While the financial department is quick to respond when taking payments, their billing practices are unethical and frustrating. SDFC requires you to pay more than you owe upfront to secure your IVF calendar, keeping the excess as a "credit" on your account. When you try to find out what your credit balance is or get a refund, the financial department suddenly go silent, ignoring emails and making you chase them down. I have sent email after email with no response. On top of that, they struggle to provide basic medical receipts, lacking details like the provider, services provided, and dates of service. This lack of transparency and lack of communication is unacceptable and adds stress to an already stressful journey. I requested that the financial department supervisor call me to discuss my concerns and never heard from them. I plan to report SDFC to the Better Business Bureau as well as my insurance company for questionable business practices. I am still waiting on reimbursement. Dr. Park and mid level providers: Dr. Park is experienced, professional, and friendly. However, I found her to be lacking in empathy and I felt less like a patient and more like a number. I only saw her at the egg retrievals and at the f/u zoom appts. I otherwise saw random nurse practitioners at every visit. Medical Assistant, Kat Calver: I almost left Dr. Park's care several times due to the incompetence of her medical assistant, Kat Calver. She sent me the wrong IVF calendar, submitted incorrect prescriptions to the pharmacy, and even caused a three-month delay in our treatment by making a decision that should have been made by Dr. Park. What's worse, I had to constantly push her to escalate my questions to the doctor. This added unnecessary stress to an already difficult journey. Surgery Center: Many of the staff at the surgery center were loud and unprofessional during my visits. Their behavior didn't make me feel comfortable or cared for. They need training on how to conduct themselves professionally and focus on patient-centered care. Offices: Medical offices are clean and modern. Overall, while there are some positives about SDFC, these significant issues have left me feeling frustrated and extremely dissatisfied. I ultimately sought care at a different clinic and wish I had left SDFC sooner. I hope they address these problems for the sake of future patients. I would not recommend this clinic, especially for those doing multiple rounds of IVF.
