My wife had two egg extraction surgeries at this medical office. Only one embryo good for transfer. She was not pregnant. The doctor, coordinator, embryologist all spoke to her about donor eggs. This medical office cared about selling their donor eggs, not helping patients become parents. When my wife just received her pregnancy test, embryologist Yvonne asked her to consider external Asian egg donors. It was a nightmare. She had to visit a therapist for 3 months to heal from her experience before seeking fertility treatment at another medical office. She got three good embryos with only one egg extraction at the new office. Don’t lose precious time in a donor egg factory, go elsewhere.
We initially started our IVF journey with Los Angeles Reproductive Center (LARC) and had a great first impression. Our first two appointments went really well — the staff was kind, the doctor took time to explain things, and we were genuinely excited to move forward. Unfortunately, once we decided to move forward with a donor outside of their own network, the communication changed drastically. Over the next month, we barely received any updates despite multiple calls and emails. We were told several times to call back on specific days or that someone would follow up, but the promised updates never came. After a month of waiting, we were finally told that the doctor needed additional information about our chosen donor. We were assured an email would be sent and someone would follow up — but it’s now been over another month and we still haven’t heard back. We were initially so excited to start this process with LARC, but the lack of communication and follow-through ultimately led us to switch to a different clinic. I rarely write negative reviews, but IVF is already an emotional, time-sensitive, and costly process — you deserve to feel supported and prioritized. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel that here, and I hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision.
Dr. Winklers's double board certification means she is a doctor who has gone above and beyond to prove her medical skill, ethics, and knowledge. She holds certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. This was accomplished by submitting an academic thesis, passing comprehensive exams, and meeting strict standards set by leaders in the field. Patients from around the world choose Dr. Winkler to help them grow their families based on her proven track record, her compassionate care, and expertise. Dr. Winkler provides comprehensive family planning and fertility treatment options at our Bakersfield and Encino offices.
Marc Kalan, M.D., is double board certified—in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Kalan completed a three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Southern California, where he also completed a four-year residency in OB/GYN, serving as Chief Resident in his senior year. Dr. Kalan earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School of Rosalind Franklin University and completed his undergraduate studies in aquatic biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Fertility specialists Dr. Kalan focuses on the treatment of infertility through a variety of modalities, including stimulated, mini, and natural IVF; genetic screening (PGD and gender selection); and oocyte cryopreservation. Additionally, Dr. Kalan is an accomplished micro-surgeon who is an expert at the art of tubal reanatomosis. A peer-recognized, well-respected expert in natural human reproduction, Dr. Kalan has published extensively on topics such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and IVF laboratory conditions, for which he won the University of Southern California’s prestigious Fellow Research Award in 2009. He also is called upon periodically by national and international media, including recurring interviews as a reproductive expert in TLC’s program, “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” and a recent interview on the Today show. Fertility doctor Dr. Kalan is caring, warm, approachable and funny. An excellent communicator who calms the anxieties of even the most nervous prospective moms and dads, Dr. Kalan works closely with his patients to develop individualized treatment plans. While not working, reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Kalan can be found surfing up and down the coast of California and spending time with his family, including two young children.
