Begin with what you believe in and be prepared to watch your beliefs expand. When we started Growing Generations, we did it to help an under-served segment of intended parents—the gay community. At that time, egg donation was still considered taboo, and so most surrogates used their own eggs. But because so many of our clients were men, egg donation became a greater and greater need. So, we started an egg donor company. One of us said, “Let’s provide videos of every egg donor.” Someone else responded, “Are you crazy? No donor will ever do that.” And another of us suggested, “Well, why don’t we just give it a try.” The rest is history. To this day, Growing Generations is the only company in the world that has videos on every one of its egg donors. Then we received our first straight couple. Could we do this? Why not? If our process is thorough enough to support the special needs of gay families, why not straight ones? Aren’t we a gay company? No, we help fulfill dreams. Dreams don’t have sexual orientation. Ok, let’s do it. That was a big moment for us, not because it was a gay or straight thing, but because it defined our stance in the world. We were about equality for everyone—no one left out. In 2006, a new technology emerged in the United States that allowed HIV+ men to become biological parents through IVF. GG was one of the very few, if only agency, that immediately embraced this breakthrough and welcomed HIV+ men to become parents through its program. Since then more than 50 babies have been born to parents with HIV. In 2012, we reached surrogacy baby 1,000. It was a very proud moment for us. We don’t know whether we are the biggest, or whether we help the most clients, or whether we have more babies than anyone else. What we do know is that we love what we do, and we hope you will, too.

Dishonest about the information they give you. Beware.
I applied to be a surrogate in early August 2023. Today (October 4, 23) I’m being denied because: 1) I receive food stamps that I don’t use, 2) after my 4 hour long psychological screening they determined that due to my childhood and type A personality I wouldn’t be a good fit. I’ve been filling out paperwork, rushing my pcp to get an ultrasound referral, and doing many many interviews just to be denied. Over trivial and irrelevant matters. What a huge waste of my time and energy. My boyfriend had to call off work to do that 4 hour psych interview. How can someone even determine if you are qualified after a 4 hour interview? 10/10 would not recommend. This should have all been done from the beginning instead of wasting my time for 2 months. It is completely understood that not everyone makes the cut to become a surrogate, but to anyone reading this- spend your time and energy somewhere else.
Today I was denied the opportunity to become a Surrogate at Growing Generations for the most discriminating reason in my opinion. I understand there are rules/ policies that each agency has but some just don't make sense. I was denied because my husband is not a US Citizen. My husband has been in the US since 12 years old (39 years old now). Pays Taxes just like we all do. Is NOT working illegally, he has a SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ASSIGNED BY OUR SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION. Has had a DL since 16 years old. Never even had a parking ticket. Criminal record, Crystal clear. Amazing husband and father but most of all, extremely supportive of me helping other people become parents. He is months from getting his citizenship just FYI. Anyway, my problem is, why would this matter to an agency whose TRULY ONLY INTENTION IS TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE BECOME PARENTS? why does a HUSBAND'S STATUS MATTER if he is 200% on board with Surrogacy AND the intended SURROGATE IS A US CITIZEN?? It makes no sense to me. I'm hurt by this decision because it took years for me to finally want to do this and I'm hit with this first try. I've wanted nothing more than to help others, and what better way than to help with the greatest gift of all, LIFE. I GUESS I WAS WRONG ABOUT this Agency. Sure the money is good, but that wasn't my priority. With or without Surrogacy, thank God our family is Financially stable.
