If more than one intended parent plans to contribute sperm or eggs, the fertility clinic may evaluate each genetic contributor separately and discuss how embryos will be created and stored.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choosing an egg or sperm donor<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donor selection can involve medical and family history, genetic carrier screening, identity-release preferences, donor availability and personal traits. Final donor eligibility belongs to the treating fertility clinic. Your attorney should explain the process before embryo transfer.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can people living with HIV use assisted reproduction?<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People living with HIV may be able to build families through assisted reproduction, including surrogacy, with appropriate specialist care. Modern HIV treatment, viral-suppression strategies and fertility-laboratory protocols have changed significantly over time. The treatment plan should be individualized with an HIV specialist and reproductive endocrinologist using current clinical guidance rather than relying on an older named program or fixed sperm-washing protocol.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choosing inclusive providers<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ask clinics, agencies and attorneys about their experience with LGBTQ+ families, donor conception, parentage for non-genetic parents and interstate or international journeys.
